GirlTip #100: Practice Gratitude

By Rachel Simmons

  • Self Image

One way to fight self-criticism is to remind ourselves that *we* are enough. But for those of us on the achievement treadmill, endlessly striving to do and be more, we have to go one step further — and decide that *it* is enough.

Practicing gratitude redirects my racing mind to the present and lets me take in what I have, not just who I am. A small but worthy distinction, so try it: what are 5 things you have in your life that you’re grateful for right now? In this second, mine are: music, my daughter, fresh figs, the chance to write this new book, and my healthy body that lets me bike and run. What are yours?
