ParentTip: Find Out If Your Daughter Wants You to Talk, Or Listen

When a girl shares something she’s struggling with, you can say, “Do you want me to give you a suggestion to fix it, or do you just want me to listen?” As girls get older, it’s more often the latter. When you give girls the choice, you help girls flex the muscle of asking for the kind of support they need.
