GirlTip #113: Self-Care Is an Act of Self-Respect

By Rachel Simmons

  • Self Image

Self-care isn’t a privilege you earn if you only work hard enough. You don’t “get” to clean your room, take a nap, shower, take a walk, or call a friend. You do these things because your body & soul need them to thrive. You do them as everyday acts of self-respect. It breaks my heart to hear so many young women tell me they don’t “deserve” self-care. Self-care is not a privilege. It is a right. Please, make sure every girl you love knows this. And model it, whenever and wherever you can.
