Rachel Addresses Girl Scout Research Institute
The Girl Scout Research Institute (GSRI) recently invited Rachel to discuss her research on girls’ leadership and most recent book, The Curse of the Good Girl. Rachel has worked with Girl Scouts Councils all over the United States, including Girl Scouts of Colorado, Girl Scouts of Eastern Massachusetts and Girl Scouts of Nassau County.
Formed in 2000, GSRI is comprised of experts in child development, academia, government, business, and the not-for-profit sector. The Institute conducts groundbreaking studies, releases critical facts and findings, and provides resources essential for the advancement of the well-being and safety of girls living in today’s world.
GSRI recently published Good Intentions: The Beliefs and Values of Teens and Tweens Today, based on a nationwide sample of over 3,000 3rd-12th grade boys and girls. The GSRI study finds that contrary to media portrayals of a generation lost, this current generation is in fact civic minded and responsible to themselves and others, and even more committed to these values than their predecessors were 20 years ago.
