Wow! I can’t believe that website exists. I am troubled by the fact that girls will put themselves in a potentially dangerous (and a most definitely awkward) situation and go to prom with a stranger instead of embracing their “single” status.

When I went to my junior prom last year, It was perfectly acceptable to go with a guy friend who you aren’t necessarily involved with. I think the developing culture around prom only serves as an added stress to girls who let it affect them. Displaying independence by going to prom with a friend or alone is nothing to be ashamed of. Some of the most popular girls at my school went in a group. Ultimately, what should be on the minds of girls is not that prom is 5 months away, but that college applications are due in 2 months.

By the way, I go to a public school and tests are still “sacred”.

I went to prom with a platonic male friend. He was also my Socrates, Aristotle and Archimedes. (think of the ‘eureka moment’ in the bath).

Here we have debutante balls for people in the care system where they can take their fathers and their grandfathers and other special people.

Also there are other celebrations like formals, socials and graduations.

They recently made a website to find Prom Dates…http://promdatedepot.com…so I guess going stag is kinda a thing of the past, but cheers on the confidence builder…
